Access to affordable healthcare services, prescription medications, and mental health support is essential to improve the quality of life for some, but for others, are the difference between life or death. Expanding Medicaid will ensure everyone has access to healthcare.
As a first-generation student and a mother with children attending public schools, I value the importance of providing a high-quality education. It's crucial that we equip our educators and students with the necessary resources and tools for success while actively listening to their needs. This includes ensuring that our hardworking teachers receive fair compensation. Additionally, prioritizing mental health in our schools is important for enhancing the safety and academic achievement of our children and for breaking the cycle of the school-to-prison pipeline.
With personal experience of domestic violence and both a professional and educational background in criminal justice, I will advocate for victims of crime, particularly women and children who are among the most vulnerable in our society. I will advocate to streamline the Temporary Protective Order (TPO) process and funding to equip for improved resources. I plan to work with organizations to ensure improved measures and amplify the voices of the voiceless because they are not alone.
Over my 23 years in McDonough, I have had the privilege of observing the remarkable growth of our community. However, the challenges posed by traffic congestion highlight the need for further development in our infrastructure. It is imperative that we work closely with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to secure the necessary funding for essential road improvement initiatives. By directing our resources towards the creation and improvement of roads, parks and trail systems, as well as investing in alternative transportation options, we can effectively address the issue of traffic congestion. This approach will not only alleviate the strain on our roads but also foster a sustainable and easily accessible environment for our valued residents.
No amount is too big or too small. Your contribution makes a difference to help Mary Ann be an effective representative for the people.
I have been a resident of McDonough for 23 years. I come from a family of hardworking immigrant parents who own a small business in our community. I am honored to have graduated from Henry County High School. Due to my tenacious spirit, I managed to juggle full-time work and night classes as a single parent, becoming a first-generation student. I earned my bachelor's in Criminal Justice Leadership from Mercer University and my masters in Public Administration from Clayton State University. Currently, I am working on my Juris Doctorate Degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School.
As a proud Latina and woman of color, I have dedicated my time to empowering others through volunteer work across metro Atlanta. My personal resilience as a survivor of domestic violence paired with my 18 years in public service, make me a compassionate and strong leader.
Beyond my professional life, my greatest joy comes from being a mother to two amazing children, expressing my creativity as an artist, and attending Tabernacle of Praise Church International.
